WTA Policy On Fixed Roof Accommodation In Provincial Parks of British Columbia
The Wilderness Tourism Association of B.C. (WTA) has agreed to the following Policy on Fixed Roof Accommodation In Parks.
- WTA is opposed to new resort and lodge(1) accommodation in Parks
- WTA supports resorts and lodges on the borders, but outside the boundaries of Parks
- WTA supports the continuance of existing resort and lodge facilities within Parks and the upgrade of these facilities providing the upgrade does not increase the capacity of the facility and is carried out in an environmentally acceptable fashion
- WTA supports the construction and the building of basic shelters(2) by tenured operators within Parks for the use of tenured operators in their use of their tenured lands
- WTA supports the construction and building of basic shelters in Parks for public use
- WTA values the Park wilderness and feels strongly that sufficient crown and private land outside Park boundaries is available for new resort and lodge development. Basic shelters in the Parks will enable commercial clients and the public to enjoy the Park, and keep impact and disturbance to a minimum
